osintverse-community/ipwhois
Looks up who holds an IP address through RDAP: network, ASN, organisation and contacts
No key · Docker
Looks up an IP, domain, URL or file hash in AlienVault OTX: the threat reports that mention it, malware, tags
Run
Through ot mcp, an agent calls run_tool with this; ot asks you before anything that goes online or touches a target. Set it up: ot mcp install claude (or cursor, vscode, codex, gemini).
{"tool":"osintverse-community/otx-indicators"}Or just say: "Run osintverse-community/otx-indicators on … with OTInstaller." The registry's read-only MCP server at api.otinstaller.com/mcp can find tools without installing anything.
ot run osintverse-community/otx-indicators --format tableot install osintverse-community/otx-indicatorsDocker image in a read-only container · talks to otx.alienvault.com · no key · up to 2 min. The first ot run installs the tool after asking once. Drop --format table for JSON.
ot? Install it in one linecurl -fsSL https://get.otinstaller.com/ot | shot release for your machine from GitHub Releases.checksums.txt, and the Ed25519 signature on that file against the key built into the script.ot in /usr/local/bin or ~/.local/bin. Read the script.irm https://get.otinstaller.com/ot.ps1 | iexot release for your machine from GitHub Releases.checksums.txt, and the Ed25519 signature on that file against the key built into the script.ot in %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\ot, and adds it to your PATH. Looks up an IP address, domain, URL or file hash in AlienVault OTX (Open Threat Exchange). It reports how many community threat reports ("pulses") mention the indicator and lists up to 20 of them, each with its name, tags, malware families, adversary, targeted countries, references, author and link, plus the malware families, adversaries and industries OTX relates to it, and any allow-list notes such as "Whitelisted IP". For an IP address it adds the network and location OTX has. Uses AlienVault's official Python client, OTXv2. Only OTX's own data is read, so the target is not contacted.
ot run osintverse-community/otx-indicators --domain example.com
Give exactly one.
| Input | Required | |
|---|---|---|
ip |
one of these | IP address |
domain |
one of these | Domain or host name; a name with more than two labels is looked up as both a domain and a host name, as OTX files them apart |
url |
one of these | URL |
hash |
one of these | MD5, SHA-1 or SHA-256 of a file |
None needed. OTX_API_KEY (ot keys set OTX_API_KEY), from a free OTX account, raises the rate limits: https://otx.alienvault.com/settings.
Pulses are written by OTX's community. Treat their names and tags as claims to check, not verdicts: very common names such as example.com appear in thousands of them, which is why OTX's allow-list notes are reported too. An indicator OTX doesn't know gives no entities and a note on stderr.
Open a pulse's link to see every indicator it lists, or look the target up in osintverse-community/virustotal.
pip install OTXv2==1.5.12
python -m unittest

otx-indicators finds ip, domain, url, document, other, organization, location. Tools that take those:
ip → 10 toolsdomain → 10 toolsurl → 10 toolsorganization → 6 toolsot auto, with a saved result
Alternatives to otx-indicators that also take an ip address; ot auto runs every installed one on the same value.
Looks up who holds an IP address through RDAP: network, ASN, organisation and contacts
Lists an IP's open ports passively from Shodan InternetDB, without scanning it
Shows what Shodan has seen on an IP: open ports, services, banners, vulnerabilities, location
Looks up an IP address in GreyNoise to see whether it is internet background noise or a known benign service
Checks whether DNS resolvers answer correctly by comparing them with trusted resolvers on a test template
