# osintverse-community/nerva

Identifies the service running on an open port across 170+ protocols and reports its version and metadata

## Install and run

```sh
ot install osintverse-community/nerva
ot run osintverse-community/nerva --target scanme.nmap.org:22
```

The first `ot run` installs the tool after asking once. New to `ot`? See https://otinstaller.com/docs/getting-started.

From an AI agent, through ot's MCP server (`ot mcp`):

```
run_tool {"tool":"osintverse-community/nerva","inputs":{"target":"scanme.nmap.org:22"}}
```

## Inputs

| Name | Type | Required | Default | Description |
| --- | --- | --- | --- | --- |
| `target` | string | yes |  | A host:port or ip:port (the port is assumed open); several can be comma separated |

## Outputs

Finds: ip, url, other.

- `other`: Protocol, transport and service metadata

## What a run does

- Contacts the target directly (sends requests to sites or services about it).
- Does not collect personal data.
- Does not need an account.
- Does not notify the target.
- Usually takes about 20 seconds.
- Publisher's note: Connects to the target's ports and sends protocol probes, which its logs and IDS see with your IP address. Only scan hosts you are allowed to.
- Connects to the internet.

An agent needs the person's consent before running this tool, because it contacts the target. See https://otinstaller.com/docs/agents#consent.
